We are proud to present our Wharf to Wharf poster
“The Edge of Greatness”, Maia Negre!
When considering which view to use for our poster this year we were reminded of a beautiful piece by Maia Negre. The view is from the tracks, above the Capitola bluff, with the wharf in the distance.
A view we have yet to use in one of our 38 previous posters!
We knew that Maia could create something special with this view in mind so we reached out and she was enthusiastic from the first call!
Taking a bird’s eye view above the new Capitola Wharf, Maia created “The Edge Of Greatness”. It’s a dreamy vision of the runner’s final stretch above Capitola. It reminds us of just how lucky we are to live by the beautiful bay waters.
Maia is largely inspired by her love of the water. Her oil paintings are created using a combination of loose washes and intuitive brush strokes.
Born of Chinese and French decent, Maia is a first generation American. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Painting and a minor in Business, both from San Jose State University.
Ms. Negre has been painting locally for over a decade, she has been a Santa Cruz Open Studios artist in the past and is now instrumental in putting on the Capitola Art & Wine festival annually. You can find her cards around town and throughout Northern California.
When she is not painting and running her art business, this gentle powerhouse can be found in the yoga studio, surfing, spending time with her family, or traveling to her favorite places.

We were happy to collaborate with this lovely and talented artist.
